State Crisis: MAW at the Galata Tower in Istanbul

In support of the 17th Annual Istanbul LBGT Pride Festival, Sinanji and Batchku performed an improvised projection at the historic Galata Tower. At the end of the projection, we had a conversation with a number of very interested policemen who eventually shifted their language from one surrounding a "state crisis" to one of curiosity and admiration about the real-time analog-meets-digital flavor of our projections.

Istanbul Pride 2009, The March

No projections were done during the march, as it was in broad day-light; nonetheless, the event (Pride March) was central to the greater event (Pride Week) that brought us to Istanbul. The tensions we felt during other outings were also well reflected in the major head-to-head we witnessed between protesters and the [at times] smiley police men and women pictured below.....

On Riverside-Plaza & Bedlam Theatre

Minneapolis Art on Wheels projection outing during Spark Festival of Electronic Music and Art. The statements are a poetic reaction to Pres. Obama's tone towards Muslims and the Middle East in his inauguration speech.
